The main types of copper
The most commonly used in design are purple copper, bronze, brass, white copper, and imitation copper
① Purple copper is copper with a high copper content, which is an alloy composed of pure copper as the matrix and one or several other elements added. Pure copper is purple red in color, also known as purple copper.
It has good plasticity, excellent conductivity, thermal conductivity, ductility, and corrosion resistance. It can be applied to both hot pressing and cold pressing processes, and is widely used in products such as cables, wires, and electrical discharge special copper corrosion.
② The copper content of brass is only 62-68%. It has two composition methods: one is an alloy composed of copper and zinc, which is just the most common brass. This brass is usually used to manufacture water pipes, valves, connecting pipes for indoor and outdoor air conditioning units, and radiators; Another type is composed of elements such as lead, tin, manganese, nickel, iron, and silicon. If there are more than two elements, it is special brass, which has high hardness, strength, and strong chemical corrosion resistance.
Brass has strong wear resistance, and seamless copper pipes made from it are soft and have strong wear resistance. This special brass is widely used in components such as condensers, low-temperature pipelines, subsea transport pipes, heat exchangers, etc.
③ White copper is mainly composed of nickel as an additive element. There are two composition methods: one is ordinary white copper of copper nickel binary alloy type; Another type is complex white copper with added elements of iron, zinc, aluminum, and manganese. In industry, white copper is divided into two types: electrical white copper and structural white copper.
The characteristics of structural white copper are excellent mechanical properties, good corrosion resistance, and beautiful color. This type of white copper is widely used, such as in precision machinery, chemical machinery, and eyeglass accessories. Electrical white copper has good thermoelectric properties and is a commonly used material for manufacturing resistors, precision resistors, and precision electrical instruments
④ Bronze is a copper tin alloy, which was the earliest alloy used in China. Later, for the convenience of management, all copper alloys except white copper and brass were uniformly referred to as bronze.
Tin bronze with tin as the main additive element has excellent casting performance, good mechanical properties, and excellent friction reduction performance, making it very suitable for manufacturing turbines, gears, and bearings. Lead bronze is currently used as a bearing material in engines and grinders. Aluminum bronze has excellent wear resistance, corrosion resistance, and high strength, and is widely used in the manufacture of high load shaft sleeves, gears, marine propellers, etc. Phosphorus bronze has good conductivity and high elastic limit, making it very suitable for manufacturing precision springs and electrical contact components.
⑤ Copper imitation ensures high-quality construction while further saving the high cost of copper materials and controlling the overall effect of the building from oxidation. Aluminum and stainless steel are used in the market for copper imitation treatment.
